How dermal fillers & anti wrinkle injections work

Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are popular cosmetic treatments designed to enhance facial features, reduce signs of aging, and restore a youthful appearance. Each treatment offers unique benefits and can be customized to address specific concerns.

Benefits of dermal fillers

Dermal fillers can restore lost volume in areas such as the cheeks, lips, and under-eye regions. This helps to rejuvenate the face and create a fuller, more youthful appearance. Fillers effectively smooth out static wrinkles, which are lines present at rest. These include nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, and fine lines around the mouth. Lip fillers are specifically designed to add volume, shape, and definition to the lips, creating a more plump and balanced look.

Benefits of anti wrinkle injectionse

Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly known as Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, are neurotoxin injections used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles.  Anti-wrinkle injections target dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repetitive facial movements such as smiling, frowning, and squinting. These include forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.

Consultation

A thorough consultation with a qualified practitioner is essential. Discuss your aesthetic goals, medical history, and any concerns you may have.  Using a fine needle, the artist carefully deposits pigment into the upper layers of the skin. The process involves a series of small, precise movements to create a natural-looking gradient effect. Multiple layers of pigment are applied to achieve the desired colorintensity and blend.

The procedure

The treatment area is cleaned, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to minimize discomfort. Using a fine needle, the practitioner injects the chosen dermal filler or neurotoxin into the targeted areas. The number of injections and the amount of product used will depend on the treatment plan. The procedure typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment.

Maintenance + Care

You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and should subside within a few days.

It’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol for 24-48 hours after the procedure.
A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to assess the results and make any necessary adjustments.
The results are immediate and can last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler and area treated. Periodic touch-ups are recommended to maintain the results. Results typically appear within 3-7 days, with full effects visible at around 2 weeks. The effects last about 3-6 months, after which maintenance treatments are required to sustain the appearance.
